What consumer health data AideMemo collects, and why
- From Apple Health, if you allow it: steps, walking and running distance, workouts and their routes. AideMemo shows them in your Journal and on each day's page, and uses them to answer your questions in Chat.
- Motion activity and steps from your iPhone, if you allow it: used to tell how you travelled between places in your Journal, and to confirm visits.
- Places you visit and frequent places you choose, if you allow Location: kept so that you can remember where you went. A visit to a place that provides health care is recorded like any other place. AideMemo can suggest places you have stayed at more than once as frequent places, and only the ones you pick are added. It never suggests or watches a hospital or pharmacy as a frequent place (see Geofencing).
- What you record, write or save yourself: voice recordings and their transcripts, notes, moments and photos can mention your health. AideMemo keeps them as you created them.
- What AideMemo writes from all of the above: Chat answers and your Memory Summary are written by an AI model from your records, and, with full Photos access, so are descriptions of recent photos in your library. When your records concern your health, so can the text.
AideMemo reads each of these only after you allow it, and uses them only to provide these features to you. It does not use them for advertising, does not sell them, and does not use them to train any model.
Where it comes from
You; Apple Health, your iPhone's motion data and its location services, each with your permission; and AI models writing on your behalf from those records.
What is shared, and with whom
AideMemo shares consumer health data only in the ways you choose:
- The online text model you choose, if you choose one. When you use an online model, AideMemo sends it the text of the records relevant to your question. That text can include health information in your notes, transcripts and visits. Your steps, walking and running distance, workouts and motion activity are sent only while you allow it for that provider: AideMemo asks when you choose an online model, and when you turn on Health or Motion while one is chosen. The allowance covers one provider at a time; choosing another provider ends it. Without it, Health and Motion are left out of everything sent to the model. Workout routes are never sent. The companies you can choose are Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, Moonshot, Zhipu, MiniMax, OpenRouter, SiliconFlow, OpenAI, Groq, Alibaba, ByteDance, or an endpoint you enter.
- The cloud transcription service you choose, if you choose one: the audio of a recording you ask it to transcribe, which can include what you say about your health.
- Apple: with Sync with iCloud on, your library syncs through your own iCloud account. That includes visits, places, notes and recordings. Health and Motion never sync, apart from an identifier for a workout you hide from your Journal, without its content. Your iPhone's backups include AideMemo's data, including what it read from Health.
- Apple Maps: to name places you stay at often, to check whether a frequent place is a hospital or pharmacy, to find places you save or that your events name, to name where your photos were taken and the places a model on your device writes about, and to show maps, AideMemo sends Apple Maps their coordinates or searches. A place that provides health care can be among them.
- Friends you invite: only the records of a day that you choose to share. Health and Motion are never shared.
- An AI assistant you connect, such as Claude: only the kinds of memories you choose, which can include places, visits and descriptions of your photos. Health and Motion are never offered. The assistant's company (for Claude, Anthropic) keeps what it reads under its own terms.
We do not sell consumer health data or give it to data brokers.
Your rights, and how to use them
- See it. Everything AideMemo keeps is in the app. The companies it can reach are listed above.
- Withdraw your consent: turn off Send Health data to the provider, under Online Text Model in Settings › Health, which takes effect at once; turn off Enable Health in Settings › Health, or Enable Location or Enable Motion in Settings › Location & Motion; or remove AideMemo's access in iOS Settings. Turning one off stops further collection; what was already collected stays until you delete it.
- Delete it:
- Delete a record in the app.
- Delete everything AideMemo imported from Health at once with Delete Imported Health Data, at the end of Settings › Health. It also clears Chat answers that used it. Motion records aren't included, and the Health app is unchanged. When you turn Health off, AideMemo asks whether to delete what it imported too.
- Deleting the app removes what is on the iPhone.
- AideMemo's iCloud data can be deleted in iOS Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage.
- What an online model, a transcription service or an assistant already received must be deleted with that company.
- Ask us. Write to leto@proairos.com. You don't need an account. We answer within 45 days, free of charge up to twice a year. If we need more time, we tell you within those 45 days, and we can extend once by 45 more days. Because your data stays on your iPhone, we will usually explain how to do what you ask in the app, and tell you what we hold, which is normally nothing.
- Appeal. If we decline a request, reply to our answer with "Appeal" within 30 days. We answer within 45 days and explain our decision. If we deny the appeal, you can complain to the Washington State Attorney General at atg.wa.gov/file-complaint, or, in Nevada, to the Nevada Attorney General.
Geofencing
AideMemo watches only the frequent places you add, up to 20, to note when you arrive and leave, and never uses them to send you messages or advertising. Frequent places are only the ones you add: AideMemo can suggest places you have stayed at more than once, and you choose which to add.
Frequent places leave out hospitals and pharmacies. When a place is suggested or added, and for places you added earlier, AideMemo asks Apple Maps whether a hospital or pharmacy is there (within about 50 metres, or on a hospital's grounds). If one is, AideMemo neither suggests nor watches the place, and keeps only that decision, not what Apple Maps returned. A hospital or pharmacy you added earlier keeps its record, and its name if you gave it one, but is no longer watched. If Apple Maps can't answer, for example while you're offline, the place is treated as ordinary for now and checked again later.
Apple Maps has no category for clinics or for doctors' and dentists' offices, so AideMemo can't recognise them. If you add one as a frequent place, it is watched like any other.
