How it works
- You choose what to share: the kinds of memories, and the period they come from.
- Your iPhone answers. The assistant sends its request to AideMemo's relay, which wakes your iPhone with a notification. Your iPhone answers from its own copy of what you shared, and the answer goes back the same way. The relay keeps neither the question nor the answer.
- Read-only. The assistant gets two tools: search, which finds up to 20 memories by words or dates, and fetch, which reads one in full. It cannot change, add or delete anything.
- You see every access. Each search and each read shows a notification with the connection's name, and Recent Access lists them.
Connect Claude
- In AideMemo, open Settings: in the Chat tab, open the chat list with the button at the top left, then tap Settings, the round button at the bottom left. Under Intelligence, choose AI Assistants, then Connect an Assistant and Claude.
- Choose Copy Address. The address is the same for everyone:
https://mcp.aidememo.com/mcp - In Claude, open Customize › Connectors (in Claude's iPhone app, Settings › Connectors), add a custom connector named AideMemo with that address, and choose Connect. If Claude shows Requires sign-in, turn it on.
- Claude opens a page titled Connect AideMemo. On an iPhone or iPad, it opens AideMemo by itself. On another device, scan its QR code with your iPhone's camera, or type the 8-character code it shows in AI Assistants › Enter Connection Code.
- AideMemo asks whether to allow Claude, and shows where the request came from and what Claude would read. Choose Allow, or More Settings… to change the kinds of memories and the period first. Allow only a request you just started.
- If your iPhone is not on the same network as the device you are connecting from, AideMemo shows a 6-digit verification code. Type it into the Connect AideMemo page.
Approve within 5 minutes of starting. After you allow, Claude has 10 minutes to finish connecting. If the time runs out, start again from Claude. To end the connection later, delete it in AideMemo, and remove the connector in Claude as well.
Other assistants
An assistant that can add a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) can connect with a private connector URL instead:
- In AI Assistants › Connect an Assistant, choose your assistant or Other Assistant. For Claude, choose Use a Connector URL Instead.
- Give the connection a name, choose its Memory Types and Sharing Period, and choose Create Connector URL.
- Add the connector URL to your assistant. Some assistants ask for the server URL and access key instead, which AideMemo also shows.
Keep the URL private: anyone who has it can ask your iPhone for the memories you shared with that connection. If it may have been seen by someone else, choose Replace Connector URL, and every earlier address stops working. We have tested AideMemo with Claude; other assistants add connectors in their own ways, which their help pages describe.
What an assistant can read
- The kinds of memories you pick for that connection: Notes, Moments, Voice, Places, Calendar, Reminders, Photos and Location. Notes and Moments are picked to start with.
- Trakt or Bangumi records, while an account is connected, only if you pick them. AideMemo says what that shares before you do.
- The period you pick: the last 7, 30 or 90 days, the last year, or all time. With Include new memories, what you save later is included too.
- Text only. Photos and recordings stay on your iPhone; an assistant reads their descriptions, recognised text and transcripts. With full Photos access, Photos includes the descriptions AideMemo writes of recent photos in your library.
- Never offered: Health, Motion and email.
Your controls
Each connection has its own page in AI Assistants:
- Recent Access lists its latest 20 requests, kept only on your iPhone.
- Access can be paused: the assistant is told access is paused until you turn it back on.
- Change the kinds of memories or the period, and choose Save Changes.
- Replace Connector URL makes every earlier address for the connection stop working.
- Delete Connection ends it. Your iPhone refuses any later request, and the assistant is told the connector was removed. Remove it in the assistant too.
What you need
- An iPhone with iOS 27.
- Notifications allowed for AideMemo in iOS Settings. AideMemo asks when you connect.
- Your iPhone on, online, and unlocked at least once since it last restarted. AideMemo does not need to be open.
- In states where the law requires an age check, people under 18 can't connect an AI assistant, and existing connections are paused.
If something goes wrong
- "AideMemo on the iPhone did not respond." Your iPhone did not answer within about 25 seconds. Check that it is on and online, and that notifications are allowed for AideMemo.
- "Access for this assistant is paused in AideMemo on the iPhone." Turn access back on, on the connection's page.
- "This connector was removed in AideMemo." The connection was deleted. Create a new one, and replace the connector in the assistant.
- Unlock your iPhone once if the assistant says it has to wait until the iPhone has been unlocked since it restarted.
- After restoring or reinstalling AideMemo, a connection shows Needs New URL or Reconnect. Follow it to connect again.
- The request expired. Start again from your assistant, and approve within 5 minutes.
Privacy
What an assistant reads goes to its company, which keeps it under its own terms: for Claude, Anthropic. AideMemo names the company before you connect. AideMemo's relay passes requests through and keeps nothing once a request is answered. The details are in the privacy policy. Questions: leto@proairos.com.
